Words to describe my teaching style
Aleks brings a versatile performer's background to his teaching. He has explored many different facets of cello playing outside and within Classical music. He seeks to use and create techniques as a means to the end - finding a personal way of playing the cello. As a composer, he holds the same values - creating intuitively rather technically.
A typical lesson with Aleks starts with warm ups with the bow then diving into the repertoire. He uses the repertoire to not only to develop cellistic technique, but as a way of discovering self-expression on the instrument. Lessons will have conversation and demonstration but no drilling. Lessons tend to go with the flow of the student.
In his spare time, Aleks enjoys reading voraciously, playing on the Nintendo Switch, exciting adventures with family, exploring coffee, being a home chef, exploring music of many different styles and genres, catching music shows/concerts in town and building models - Star Trek, Legos etc.
